This timeline begins with what the documentary record can support confidently: visits in 2014 and 2019. More detailed dates and the wider India itinerary will be added from contemporaneous trip records rather than inferred after the fact.
Visit 1
The 2014 photographs form the foundation of the current Varanasi experience: the river, ghats, everyday work, religious practice, individual encounters and the evening aarti. The timeline records the visit without inventing day-by-day dates that have not yet been reconciled to the source record.
Visit 2
Five years later, the 2019 return expands the documentary record with new encounters, river activity, work, faith, lanes, interiors and architecture. It is presented as a return to the same city, not as a claim that every subject or viewpoint can be matched to 2014.
Next level of chronology
The archive can eventually show the route and dates of the longer India journey city by city. The trip log will be the starting authority for that chronology. Maps can show where; the timeline will show when and in what order.
