Everyday Lives welcomes first-hand knowledge that can make the archive more accurate, contextual and useful. If you recognize yourself, someone you know, a place, a practice or an event, that knowledge may be historically valuable. Contributions are submitted privately. Nothing is published automatically, and all information is reviewed before it can change the public archive.
What you can share
Identify a person
Share a name or other identification and explain the basis for it.
Identify a place
Help locate a street, building, ghat, neighbourhood or other setting.
Correct information
Flag a caption, date, location or contextual statement that may be inaccurate.
Share a memory or oral history
Add first-hand recollection connected to a photographed person, place, event or way of life.
Add historical context
Share relevant cultural, social or historical information and, where possible, its source.
Something else
Send other information that may improve the documentary or archival record.
Private submission
Share information privately with the archive.
The archive's contribution email is active. Please include the photograph or catalogue reference where possible, what you know, how you know it, and whether you are willing to be contacted for clarification. First-hand memories are welcome even when some details are uncertain; uncertainty can be recorded rather than silently resolved.
Supporting references may be included where appropriate. Contributions remain private and are reviewed before any information can affect the published documentary record.

How contributions are handled
Contribution does not mean automatic publication.
Information may be checked against existing catalogue records, research sources and other evidence. When a contribution materially affects the archive, its provenance should be retained internally. Personal information will not be displayed simply because it was submitted, and sensitive identification requires particular care.
